Assistant Coffee Shop Manager


We are looking to recruit an Assistant Coffee Shop Manager, to manage the day-to-day operations of Boosters café at the National Space Centre, with a commitment to leading the team to provide excellent customer care and achieving high quality standards at all times.

 

The successful person should have excellent standards of customer care and a commitment to leading a team to achieve this standard.  Experience of operating a coffee shop or café is essential, as are effective communication, teamwork and strong leadership skills.

 

Job Description is detailed below.

 

Salary – circa £17,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience.

 

Working with Children – This role requires a DBS Disclosure.

Job Description:                       


Responsible to:                       Coffee Shop Manager

                                               

Overall Purpose:                      To manage the day–to-day operations of Boosters Café at the National Space Centre.



Fire Warden Position:              The Assistant Coffee Shop Manager role will train up to Building Controller level.


Main Tasks     


  • To work with the coffee shop manager and run the daily operation of Boosters café.
  • To ensure that the café area always meets required standards.
  • Ensure that all Environmental health and hygiene legislation is adhered to.
  • Manage staff including rotas and time sheets.
  • Instruct and train staff on equipment and procedures.
  • Ensure all health & safety and hygiene records are maintained.
  • To prepare and deliver all items offered on the menu to company standards.
  • To place stock orders and ensure management of deliveries.
  • Carry out regular stock checks.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all café equipment.
  • To respond to visitor demands and deal with complaints making the decision on individual situations in line with National Space Centre operational policies.
  • Meet sales and cost budgets.
  • Help to develop the catering offer at Boosters with the aim of improving profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • To deliver daily briefings to the staff ensuring all relevant information in regards to the days running has been prepared in advance.
  • To keep up to date any relevant administration, i.e. keeping training files up to date.
  • Ensure all operational duties are completed in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Undertake first aid duties as required.

Person Specification


  • The person should have excellent standards of customer care and a commitment to leading a team to achieve this standard.
  • Experience of a similar role within a coffee shop or café.
  • Food Safety qualification.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Good organisational abilities.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Commitment to training and development.
  • Excellent presentation.




Working hours:     35 hours per week. This includes regular weekends and regular bank holidays.  However full flexibility will be required for occasional evening/special events.
